“I Make America” Winners

By: Kaspersen, Janice: Stormwater Editor Comments

Last Thursday, the Association of Equipment Manufacturers announced the winners of its Picture a Better America photo contest. The contest, part of AEM’s “I Make America” campaign, was intended to call attention for the need to invest in US infrastructure improvements and to encourage public investment in infrastructure.

The contest featured four categories. “One Bumpy Ride” sought photos of decaying roads or bridges, and the winning photo, by Julia Hoskins of Oregon, showed Hawaii’s Pi’ilani Highway.

“When We Work, Things Work” was to show people on the job site; the winning photo, taken by Nicholas Klisch of South Dakota, pictured road work with Mt. Rushmore in the background.

“America Grows Here” looked at agriculture; Georgia college student Macie Perry won with a photo of a storehouse in Moreland, Georgia.

“Our Many Faces” featured individual workers, and the winner, Christine Perkins, submitted a photo of her co-worker, a more-than-20-year employee of a Wisconsin company that manufactures cranes and ice machines.
