Introducing Keynote Speaker Terry Tamminen

By: Scott Nania, StormCon Coordinator Comments

Don’t miss the opening General Session featuring the keynote presentation by environmentalist, Cullman Senior Fellow, director of the Climate Policy Program of The New America Foundation, and distinguished governmental advisor on energy and environmental policy, Terry Tamminen.

From his youth in Australia to career experiences in Europe, Africa, and all parts of the United States, Terry has developed his expertise in business, farming, education, non-profit organizations, the environment, arts, and government. He has managed a multi-million-dollar real estate company, owned and operated a successful recreational services business, and assisted the African nation of Nigeria with the creation of their first solid waste recycling program.

In 1993, Terry founded the Santa Monica BayKeeper and served as the executive director of the Environment Now Foundation in Santa Monica, CA, where he cofounded the Frank G. Wells Environmental Law Clinic at the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger appointed him in 2003 as the secretary of the California Environmental Protection Agency, and later, as cabinet secretary, the chief policy advisor to the Governor.

Terry currently lectures and provides private consulting services to a variety of clients, including several governors and Canadian premiers on climate and energy policy. Terry’s latest book, Lives Per Gallon: The True Cost of Our Oil Addiction (Island Press), is a timely examination of our dependence on oil and a strategy to evolve to more sustainable energy sources.

Don’t miss StormCon’s inspiring keynote speaker and opening general session on Tuesday August, August 18, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., hosted by AbTech Industries.
